About Me

Welcome! My name is Frances Shelby and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. My goal as a therapist is to ensure that from the beginning of our work together you feel comfortable and safe. Most people seek out therapy because they become tired of the way things are going. The pain, guilt, uncertainty finally outweigh the fear of taking a deeper look at what is really going on. And trust me, I know it is intimidating. My approach includes being a collaborative partner and guide for you to start to unpack the things that aren’t working anymore. There is no judgment and no advice. We will take a compassionate look at what is going and work together create change. I enjoy working with young adults who are dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, boundary setting and substance use issues.
In session I often use mindfulness-based therapy models to provide skills for you to practice in your life. I also encourage practices of self compassion and self care. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all and my goal is to make each client feel as if their unique needs are being addressed.
*I am currently able to provide counseling anywhere in Texas through online sessions.* Feel free to reach out to me if you would like to talk more about what therapy might look like or if you would like to schedule an appointment. At this time I’m still holding all sessions online and I have flexibility in scheduling. I look forward to hearing from you.
